With small classes of six students or fewer and plenty of generous studio time, there’s room to explore the day’s topic, try new techniques, and follow your own creative ideas. Each artist, age 5 and up, gets the opportunity to learn, experiment, and discover their unique artistic voice — limited only by their imagination!

🎒 After School Art
Four-week mini art sessions | 4:30–6:00 PM
A wonderful opportunity to build artistic skills through classic drawing and painting lessons. Students explore traditional techniques, art terminology, and foundational skills while developing confidence and creativity along the way! 🎨
🍎 Schools Out: Pop-Up Art Sessions
WRSD School Days Off | Half-day workshops
When school is out, the art studio is open for creativity! 🌈 Choose a morning or afternoon workshop featuring a mini art lesson followed by open studio time. Students can experiment, explore, and follow their imaginations using the supplies available that day.

Spend winter vacation making art! Each day features a different creative topic, offering fresh projects, new techniques, and plenty of opportunities to experiment. 🖌️☃️

Celebrate spring with a little artistic adventure! 🌼 Each day's workshop focuses on a special art topic, giving young artists the chance to learn, create, and explore something new.

Three mornings of creativity, connection, and hands-on artmaking! 🎨 Each three-day mini camp features a special project of the week, giving artists time to explore techniques, develop ideas, and create something wonderful to take home.
🎉 Art Parties & Birthdays
Celebrate with creativity! 🥳 Birthday parties are scheduled at a mutually agreed-upon time and place. You choose the subject matter and art medium, and I’ll design a special art lesson tailored to the birthday artist. It's a fun and memorable way to celebrate with friends!
📚 Free Community Art Classes
Art should be for everyone! 💕 Free classes are offered several times throughout the year at Gale Free Library in Holden, MA. Registration is available through the library’s Children's Room.

🎨 Meet Mrs. Shepherd
Hello, I’m Mary—known to many as Mrs. Shepherd! 💕 Art has been my lifelong companion, shaping my journey as both a practicing artist and an educator. My love of teaching began as a teenager working with my local recreation department. I later supported myself through college by teaching art, and I’ve continued sharing my passion for creativity with my community ever since.

Creativity & Connection
In 2000, I opened Community Creations Studio, a special place where imagination, exploration, and connection come together. After taking a pause to pursue a second master’s degree in educational leadership, I’m delighted to return to teaching in this beloved space!
Now semi-retired from public school education, I’m dedicating more time to what brings me the greatest joy: helping artists of all ages discover their creativity in a calm, welcoming, and inspiring environment. ✨
🖌️ Making Art, Making Connections
Over the years, I’ve had the joy of watching young artists grow as they explore drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and assemblage. Every artist brings a unique perspective, and I love creating opportunities for students to experiment, build confidence, and discover their own artistic voices.
My passion for sharing art extends beyond the studio, too! 💖 I volunteer in community spaces, including our local library and a shelter, and serve as a visiting artist at a local camp, where I share classic art lessons with children from urban communities. These experiences remind me how art can spark creativity, confidence, connection, and joy in everyone.
